The story of IMechE
The IMechE held its first meeting in 1847, at the Queen's Hotel, Birmingham. Learn more

One Birdcage Walk, the purpose built headquarters of IMechE, was completed in 1899. Before moving here, the Institution had bases in Birmingham, and moved to London in 1877.
